Samyukta Maharashtra Samiti was an organization formed in 1950 to advocate for a united Marathi-speaking Maharashtra state. It aimed to consolidate various Marathi-speaking regions from different provinces into a single state, emphasizing linguistic and cultural identity. The movement was part of the broader demand for linguistic reorganization of Indian states post-independence, seeking to ensure that people sharing a common language and culture could have their own governance.
