Sami

The Sami, also known as Lapps, are an Indigenous people native to the Arctic region of Sápmi, which spans northern Norway, Sweden, Finland, and parts of Russia. They have a rich cultural heritage centered around reindeer herding, fishing, and crafts. Traditionally semi-nomadic, the Sami maintain distinct languages, clothing, and customs. They have experienced historical challenges such as forced assimilation, but today they work to preserve their identity, rights, and land. The Sami are recognized as an Indigenous people with specific cultural and political rights within the Nordic countries.
