Saint John of Nepomuk
Saint John of Nepomuk was a Czech priest in the 14th century, known for his faith and integrity. He became a symbol of honesty and protection for those confessing their secrets, as he famously refused to betray the confessional seal when pressured by the king. He was martyred by being thrown into the Vltava River for refusing to reveal a queen’s confession. Today, he is regarded as the patron saint of bridges, protectors of confidentiality, and against floodwaters. His image often appears on bridges and churches, symbolizing trust, truth, and devotion.
