Sachsenhausen

Sachsenhausen was a Nazi concentration camp located near Berlin, operational from 1936 to 1945. Initially designed for political prisoners, it became a place for thousands of inmates, including Jews, forced laborers, and perceived enemies of the Nazi regime. The camp was known for its harsh conditions, medical experiments, and systematic executions. It served as a model for other camps and played a role in the Holocaust. After World War II, it was used by the Soviet Union as a prison until it was closed in 1950. Today, Sachsenhausen is a memorial and museum, educating visitors about its history.
