S6K
S6K, or ribosomal protein S6 kinase, is an enzyme inside our cells that helps control how cells grow and produce proteins. It gets activated when signals indicate the body needs more cell growth or energy, such as after eating or during exercise. Once active, S6K helps turn on other processes that increase the production of proteins, essential for cell growth and repair. Proper regulation of S6K is important—if it’s overly active, it can contribute to conditions like cancer, whereas insufficient activity might impair growth and healing.
