Sámi languages

The Sámi languages are a group of related indigenous languages spoken by the Sámi people in the northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia's Kola Peninsula. They belong to the Uralic language family, similar to Finnish and Estonian, and are divided into several distinct languages, such as Northern Sámi, Lule Sámi, and Southern Sámi. These languages have unique grammatical structures and vocabulary, and many are endangered due to historical suppression and modern challenges. Efforts are ongoing to preserve and promote Sámi languages as vital aspects of Sámi identity and cultural heritage.
