Rwandan Patriotic Front

The Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) is a political party in Rwanda, founded in 1987, initially as a rebel group to advocate for the rights of Rwandan refugees, particularly the Tutsi population. It played a significant role in ending the Rwandan Genocide in 1994 by overthrowing the government responsible for the massacre. Since then, the RPF has been the dominant political force in Rwanda, with its leader, Paul Kagame, serving as president. The party is credited with economic development and stability in Rwanda but has also faced criticism for human rights issues and suppressing political dissent.
