Russian Social Democratic Labour Party

The Russian Social Democratic Labour Party (RSDLP) was a revolutionary political group founded in 1898, aiming to promote socialism through organized worker movements and political activism. It sought to overthrow the Tsarist autocracy and establish a socialist government based on Marxist principles. The party emphasized proletarian class struggle, revolutionary change, and aimed to unite workers across Russia. In 1903, internal divisions led to the formation of two factions: the more moderate Mensheviks and the more revolutionary Bolsheviks. The Bolsheviks, led by Vladimir Lenin, eventually seized power in 1917, establishing the basis for the Soviet Union.
