Runes

Runes are characters from ancient alphabets used by Germanic peoples, particularly in Scandinavia and the British Isles, dating back to around the 2nd to 3rd century AD. Each rune represents a specific sound, similar to letters, but also embodies unique meanings and symbols. Traditionally, runes were carved on wood, stone, or metal for various purposes, such as writing, divination, and magic. The most well-known rune system is the Elder Futhark, consisting of 24 runes. Runes also play a significant role in Norse mythology and culture, reflecting the beliefs and practices of early Germanic societies.
