RTS,S/AS01 (Mosquirix)

RTS,S/AS01, also known as Mosquirix, is a malaria vaccine developed to protect against the deadly malaria parasite transmitted by mosquitoes. It works by stimulating the immune system to recognize and fight the parasite early in its development, particularly targeting Plasmodium falciparum, the most dangerous form. The vaccine is given in several doses and helps reduce the risk of severe malaria, especially in children in endemic areas. While not completely foolproof, it is a significant tool in malaria control efforts, complementing other measures like bed nets and spraying.
