RSD Syndrome
Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), also known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), is a chronic condition that causes severe, persistent pain often following an injury or trauma. It involves dysfunction of the nervous system, leading to heightened pain sensitivity, swelling, changes in skin color and temperature, and sometimes muscle weakness or tremors. The exact cause isn’t fully understood, but it’s believed to involve abnormal nerve signaling and immune responses. RSD/CRPS requires medical treatment to manage symptoms, improve function, and prevent progression. Early diagnosis and intervention can greatly enhance recovery outcomes.
