A rotary engine, also known as a Wankel engine, is an internal combustion engine that uses a rotating triangular rotor instead of pistons to convert fuel into motion. As the rotor turns inside a specially shaped chamber, it creates separate spaces for intake, compression, power, and exhaust, allowing smooth continuous combustion. This design results in fewer moving parts, a compact size, and high power output relative to weight. Rotary engines are known for their smooth operation and unique sound but can be less fuel-efficient and more challenging to maintain compared to conventional piston engines.
