Root nodule

Root nodules are small growths that form on the roots of certain plants, like legumes (beans, peas, etc.), through a partnership with specific bacteria. These bacteria enter the plant's roots and stimulate nodule formation, where they convert atmospheric nitrogen into a usable form for the plant. This natural process, called nitrogen fixation, enhances soil fertility by increasing the nitrogen content. The plant benefits from the additional nutrients, promoting healthy growth, while the bacteria receive carbohydrates produced by the plant. Root nodules are vital for sustainable agriculture, reducing the need for chemical fertilizer.
