Roman Numerals

Roman numerals are a number system originating from ancient Rome, using combinations of Latin letters to represent values. The key symbols are I (1), V (5), X (10), L (50), C (100), D (500), and M (1000). Numbers are formed by combining these symbols, adding their values when placed together from left to right, and subtracting when a smaller value precedes a larger one (e.g., IV for 4, IX for 9). This system was widely used for counting, numbering, and record-keeping before the adoption of the more familiar Arabic numerals.
