Roman Empire History

The Roman Empire was one of history's greatest civilizations, originating from a small city-state in central Italy around the 8th century BCE. It expanded through conquests and alliances, reaching its peak in the 2nd century CE, encompassing vast territories across Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. Known for its innovations in government, law, architecture, and engineering, the Empire facilitated trade and cultural exchange. Internal strife, economic troubles, and external pressures led to its decline, culminating in the fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476 CE. The Eastern Roman Empire, or Byzantine Empire, continued for almost another thousand years.
