Roger W. Sperry
Roger W. Sperry was a neuroscientist known for his groundbreaking research on the brain's hemispheres. He discovered that the left and right sides of the brain have specialized functions: the left is typically involved in language and logical thinking, while the right handles spatial awareness and creativity. His experiments, often involving split-brain patients who had their corpus callosum (the connecting bridge between hemispheres) cut, showed how each side can operate independently. Sperry's work deepened our understanding of brain lateralization, influencing neurological and psychological studies about how the brain processes different types of information.
