Rochelle Walensky is an American physician and public health expert who became the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in January 2021. She played a key role in the U.S. response to the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on vaccine distribution and public health guidelines. Walensky is an advocate for science-based approaches to healthcare and infectious disease prevention. Before heading the CDC, she was a professor at Harvard Medical School and a chief of infectious diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital, contributing significant research to understanding and treating infectious diseases.
