RIPA

RIPA, or the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act, is a UK law that governs how government agencies can monitor and gather information about people's communications and activities. Its purpose is to balance national security and crime prevention with individuals' privacy rights. RIPA sets out the legal procedures for obtaining warrants, called authorizations, to conduct surveillance, intercept communications, or access private data. It also provides safeguards to ensure that such surveillance is justified and proportionate, aiming to prevent misuse while allowing authorities to pursue lawful investigations.
