Riots of 1905
The 1905 Russian Revolution was a series of protests, strikes, and uprisings across Russia, triggered by political repression, economic hardship, and dissatisfaction with Tsarist rule. Workers demanded better wages and rights, peasants sought land reforms, and soldiers and students joined the unrest. The unrest led to the creation of the first Russian parliament, the Duma, and forced the Tsar to make some concessions, marking a significant step toward political change. However, many demands remained unmet, and the revolution's unrest signaled a growing challenge to autocratic authority that would lead to future upheavals.
