The ring-tailed lemur is a primate native to Madagascar, easily recognized by its distinct long, bushy tail with black and white rings. It is a social, highly active animal that lives in groups called troops. Omnivorous, it feeds on fruits, leaves, flowers, and insects. Adapted to a range of habitats, from forests to dry scrublands, the lemur spends much of its time on the ground and in trees. Its expressive face and lively behavior make it a charismatic species, and it plays a vital role in its ecosystem by aiding seed dispersal.
