Rights of Third Parties Act 1999 (UK)
The Rights of Third Parties Act 1999 allows individuals who are not parties to a contract to enforce certain rights under that contract, provided the contract explicitly states they can do so. This means, for example, if someone benefits from a contract between two other people, they can now seek to enforce that benefit in court. Before this act, only those directly involved in a contract had legal rights. The law aims to clarify and expand who can benefit from contractual agreements, enhancing fairness and making it easier for affected parties to seek justice.
