Rigel

Rigel is a bright, blue-white supergiant star located in the constellation Orion. It is one of the most luminous stars visible in the night sky, appearing about 860 light-years away from Earth. As a supergiant, Rigel has expanded greatly and is significantly larger and more luminous than our Sun, with a mass roughly 20 times greater. Its intense brightness results from its high temperature and size. Rigel is an important object of study because it helps astronomers understand the life cycles of massive stars and their evolution toward supernova explosions.
