RIFLE criteria

The RIFLE criteria are a standardized way to classify the severity of acute kidney injury (AKI). RIFLE stands for Risk, Injury, Failure, Loss, and End-stage kidney disease. It assesses changes in kidney function based on increases in blood waste levels (creatinine) or decreases in urine output. "Risk" indicates mild injury, while "Failure" signifies severe damage. "Loss" and "End-stage" describe persistent kidney failure requiring ongoing treatment. The criteria help healthcare professionals identify AKI early, determine its severity, and guide appropriate treatment decisions.
