Richmond Campaign
The Richmond Campaign was a series of military operations during the American Civil War, primarily in 1864, aimed at capturing the Confederate capital of Richmond, Virginia. Led by Union General Ulysses S. Grant, the campaign involved coordinated assaults on Confederate defenses, strategic battles, and efforts to cut off Confederate supply lines. Its goal was to weaken the Confederacy and bring an end to the war. Despite heavy fighting and setbacks, the campaign ultimately contributed to the Union's victory, with Richmond falling to Union forces in April 1865.
