Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, now known as the Community of Christ, is a Christian denomination that emerged from the Latter Day Saint movement, founded in the 19th century by Joseph Smith. After Smith's death, a group, led by his son Joseph Smith III, sought to continue his teachings but with different beliefs and practices from the larger Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Today, the Community of Christ emphasizes social justice, peace, and a commitment to community, focusing on a more progressive interpretation of Christianity while retaining some distinctively Latter Day Saint traditions.
