Renters Insurance Law

Renters insurance is a type of property insurance designed to protect tenants from loss or damage to their personal belongings due to events like theft, fire, or water damage. It typically covers personal property and may also provide liability protection if someone is injured in the rented space. Importantly, renters insurance does not cover the building itself—that's the landlord's responsibility. While not legally required, many landlords recommend or require tenants to have renters insurance to safeguard against unexpected losses and liabilities.
