Renal function testing

Renal function testing assesses how well your kidneys are working to filter waste and excess fluids from your blood. Common tests include measuring blood levels of waste products like creatinine and blood urea nitrogen (BUN), which indicate kidney efficiency. A blood test called estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) combines these results to estimate kidney function. Additionally, a urine test may be performed to check for signs of kidney damage, such as protein or blood. These tests help detect kidney problems early, guiding treatment to prevent further damage and maintain overall health.
