Reiwa era (post-Heisei)

The Reiwa era began in Japan on May 1, 2019, when Emperor Naruhito ascended the throne, marking the start of a new imperial period. It follows the Heisei era and symbolizes a time of harmony and renewal. Japanese eras, known as "nengō," are used alongside the Western calendar for official purposes. Reiwa means "beautiful harmony," reflecting hopes for peace and prosperity. The era influences various aspects of society, including official documents, calendars, and cultural identity, while coexist-ing with the global Gregorian calendar.
