Reinhard Heydrich's assassination
Reinhard Heydrich, a high-ranking Nazi official, was assassinated in May 1942 in Prague by Czech resistance fighters with British support. The operatives, trained and supplied by the Allies, attacked Heydrich's car with grenades and gunfire, aiming to stop his brutal enforcement of Nazi policies. Heydrich died from his injuries a few days later. The attack was part of broader resistance efforts against Nazi occupation and resulted in severe reprisals, including the massacre of civilians and the destruction of villages. The assassination marked a significant act of daring resistance within occupied Europe during World War II.
