Reflection Seismology

Reflection seismology is a technique used to explore what's beneath Earth's surface by sending sound waves into the ground. When these waves encounter different underground layers, they bounce back to the surface as echoes. Sensors detect these echoes, and scientists analyze their travel times and strength to create images of underground structures. This method helps in locating natural resources like oil and gas, understanding geological features, and assessing earthquake risks. Essentially, it’s like taking an ultrasound of the Earth to see beneath the surface without drilling.
