Referendum Council

The Referendum Council was an independent body established in Australia to promote national discussions about constitutional recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It brought together Indigenous leaders, community members, and experts to advise on how to amend the Australian Constitution to acknowledge and respect Indigenous Australians’ histories and rights. The Council aimed to facilitate a respectful, inclusive process for proposing constitutional change and supporting a voice for Indigenous communities in Australian governance.
