Recognition-Primed Decision Model
The Recognition-Primed Decision (RPD) Model explains how experts make quick, effective decisions in complex or high-pressure situations. It involves recognizing patterns from past experiences that match the current situation, allowing the decision-maker to rapidly identify a suitable course of action without extensive analysis. If the initial solution seems insufficient, they generate alternatives and evaluate them mentally until they find a workable option. Essentially, the model shows that experienced individuals rely on their intuition and pattern recognition to make timely decisions, often without deliberate logical processes, especially when time is limited.
