Ramsay Hunt syndrome
Ramsay Hunt syndrome is a condition caused by the reactivation of the herpes zoster virus, which also causes chickenpox and shingles. It affects the nerves near the ear, leading to symptoms such as facial paralysis or weakness, severe ear pain, hearing loss, or a rash around the ear or mouth. The condition can cause significant discomfort and facial muscle issues, and prompt treatment with antiviral medication and steroids can improve recovery. Early diagnosis and management are important to reduce complications and help restore normal function.
