Ramlila

Ramlila is a traditional Indian dramatic performance that recounts the story of Lord Rama, an avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu. It usually takes place during the festival of Dussehra and involves live actors portraying scenes from the epic Ramayana, including Rama’s birth, his quest to rescue his wife Sita from the demon king Ravana, and his eventual victory. The performances combine dialogues, dance, music, and costumes, often lasting several days. Ramlila serves both as entertainment and as a cultural and spiritual celebration, emphasizing themes of righteousness, duty, and devotion.
