Raffaele Cadorna
Raffaele Cadorna (1850–1928) was an Italian general and military strategist, best known for his role during World War I. He served as the Chief of Staff of the Italian Army, overseeing its operations, particularly in the challenging battles along the Isonzo River against Austro-Hungarian forces. Cadorna’s aggressive tactics and emphasis on offensive operations led to significant Italian casualties and criticism for his leadership style. Despite some early successes, the Italian army suffered defeats, culminating in the disastrous Battle of Caporetto in 1917. Cadorna was eventually replaced but remains a controversial figure in Italy's military history.
