Radiopaque substances

Radiopaque substances are materials that do not allow X-rays or other forms of radiation to pass through them easily. Because of this property, they appear white or light on X-ray images. These substances are often used in medical imaging to help highlight specific areas of the body, such as blood vessels or organs, making it easier for doctors to diagnose conditions. Common examples include barium used in gastrointestinal studies and iodine used in angiograms. By providing contrast against surrounding tissues, radiopaque substances enhance the clarity and usefulness of the imaging results.
