Radical Hysterectomy

A radical hysterectomy is a surgical procedure used to treat certain cancers, typically of the cervix or uterus. It involves removal of the entire uterus, including the cervix, part of the upper vagina, and nearby tissues and lymph nodes to ensure all cancerous cells are excised. This comprehensive removal helps prevent the cancer from spreading. The procedure is performed through an incision in the abdomen or, less commonly, through the vagina. Recovery varies, but the surgery aims to effectively treat cancer while preserving as much healthy tissue as possible.
