Punic literature

Punic literature refers to the body of written works produced in the Punic language, which was spoken by the ancient Carthaginians, a civilization centered in what is now Tunisia. Although much of the literature has not survived, it included poetry, historical accounts, and religious texts. Punic literature often reflected Carthaginian culture, beliefs, and their complex interactions with neighboring societies, particularly Rome. The most notable surviving work is the "Phoenician History" by the historian Sanchuniathon. Understanding Punic literature is essential for studying ancient Mediterranean history and the cultural heritage of the Carthaginian people.
