pull-through procedure
A pull-through procedure is a surgical technique used mainly to treat certain bowel conditions, such as Hirschsprung's disease. In this surgery, the doctor removes the affected, non-functioning part of the intestine and then pulls the healthy remaining bowel down to connect with the anus. This allows waste to pass through normally. The goal is to restore regular bowel movements by bypassing or removing problematic sections, improving the patient’s comfort and bowel function while avoiding more complex surgeries or permanent colostomies.
