Ptolemy V Epiphanes (Ptolemy V)

Ptolemy V Epiphanes was a ruler of ancient Egypt’s Ptolemaic Dynasty from around 204 to 181 BCE. Ascending the throne as a young boy, he was known for unifying his kingdom and securing its stability during a period of external threats and internal challenges. His reign is notable for the Rosetta Stone, inscribed during his rule, which became crucial for deciphering Egyptian hieroglyphs. Although young and often influenced by Egyptian and Greek officials, Ptolemy V’s leadership helped preserve Egypt’s Hellenistic culture and laid foundations for future rulers.
