PSA Testing
PSA testing measures the level of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in your blood, a protein produced by the prostate gland. Elevated PSA levels can indicate prostate issues, including benign enlargement, inflammation, or prostate cancer. The test is commonly used for screening men aged 50 and older, or earlier if they have risk factors. While a higher PSA doesn't confirm cancer, it prompts further investigation. PSA levels can be influenced by factors such as age, recent medical procedures, or infections. Physicians interpret results alongside other assessments to diagnose or monitor prostate health accurately.
