Prozac

Prozac, also known by its generic name fluoxetine, is a prescription medication used primarily to treat depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and certain other mental health conditions. It belongs to a class of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), which work by increasing the level of serotonin—a neurotransmitter associated with mood regulation—in the brain. By balancing serotonin levels, Prozac can help improve mood, reduce anxiety, and relieve obsessive thoughts or compulsions. It often takes several weeks to notice its full effects and should be taken under medical supervision.
