Provisional Government of Iran

The Provisional Government of Iran was a temporary administration established in early 1979 after the Iranian Revolution ousted the Shah. Led mainly by Prime Minister Mehdi Bazargan, it aimed to stabilize the country and organize the transition toward a new political system. However, it faced challenges from revolutionary groups, the radicalization of the Islamic movement, and opposition from more hardline factions. The government struggled to implement reforms and maintain order, ultimately resigning in November 1979 amid widespread unrest and the seizure of the U.S. Embassy. Its brief tenure marked a transitional phase during a turbulent period in Iran's history.
