Provisional Government of Free India

The Provisional Government of Free India was an unofficial government formed in 1943 by Indian nationalists under Subhas Chandra Bose while India was still under British rule. It aimed to establish an independent Indian authority outside British control, rallying support for independence and resistance during World War II. Though not officially recognized by the British or international community, it symbolized India's aspiration for sovereignty. Bose’s government organized military efforts like the Indian National Army (INA) to fight alongside the Axis powers, emphasizing militant resistance to colonial rule, and inspired nationalist movements across India.
