Provenge

Provenge is an immunotherapy treatment for prostate cancer that uses a patient’s own immune cells to fight the disease. It involves collecting white blood cells through a process called apheresis, then activating and expanding these cells with a prostate cancer antigen. The activated cells are then infused back into the patient, helping the immune system recognize and attack prostate cancer cells more effectively. Provenge aims to slow disease progression and improve quality of life, especially in advanced cases, by harnessing the body’s natural defenses rather than targeting cancer directly with chemicals or radiation.
