Protohistoric India
Protohistoric India refers to the transitional period between prehistory and recorded history, roughly around 1500 BCE to 500 BCE. During this time, written records were either limited or emerging, often through inscriptions and early writing systems like the Brahmi script. It marks the coexistence of ancient cultural traditions with the early development of urbanization, social organization, and trade. This period includes the late Vedic era and the rise of early kingdoms, setting the foundation for classical Indian civilization. It is characterized by archaeological findings that reflect changing technologies, societal structures, and interactions among diverse groups.
