In blast furnaces, iron ore is combined with coke and limestone, producing molten iron, which is then converted into steel. Electric arc furnaces recycle scrap steel using high-voltage electricity. Steel's strength and versatility make it vital for construction, manufacturing, and transportation. However, production can lead to environmental impacts, including air pollution and carbon emissions. Efforts are underway to make steel production more sustainable through technologies like carbon capture and the use of renewable energy sources.
