Primordialism

Primordialism is the idea that people's identities, such as ethnicity or culture, are deeply rooted and naturally inherited from their ancestors. It suggests that these identities are fixed, enduring, and like a part of their inherent nature, often emphasizing historical and biological ties. According to this view, such group differences are innate and tend to shape people's loyalties and conflicts over time. It contrasts with theories that see identities as more flexible or shaped by social or political circumstances. Primordialism helps explain why some groups feel a strong, almost instinctive connection to their heritage and community.
