Pregnancy-Related Nausea and Vomiting
Pregnancy-related nausea and vomiting, often called morning sickness, are common symptoms experienced by many pregnant individuals. They occur due to hormonal changes, particularly increased levels of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and estrogen, which affect the stomach and brain. These symptoms can happen at any time of day and vary in intensity, usually starting early in pregnancy and often improving by the second or third trimester. While generally benign, they can cause discomfort and dehydration if severe. Managing these symptoms involves dietary adjustments, hydration, and sometimes medical treatment to ensure safety and comfort during pregnancy.
