Predictive Coding Framework
The Predictive Coding Framework suggests that our brain actively anticipates incoming sensory information by constantly creating mental predictions based on past experiences. When actual sensory input arrives, the brain compares it to these predictions, identifying any differences or errors. It then updates its expectations to better interpret future information. This process helps the brain efficiently understand and react to the world by minimizing surprise and focusing on novel or unpredicted details. Essentially, our brain is always predicting and adjusting, which allows us to perceive our environment quickly and accurately.
